UFC Quick Quote: Leave Tiger Woods alone, goofballs

"I'm sick of hearing guys talking about it and two-faced holier-than-thou goofball talk about Tiger Woods. You know what, you want to talk about Tiger Woods? Talk about when's he playing next, what's his new training regimen. What he's doing on his private time, who gives a shit. Leave him alone. We leave in a freak-show country now, it drives me crazy. I don't even watch the news or listen to anything and I'm hearing it. It just gets old, man. Leave the kid alone. He made a mistake. We're all human, we make mistakes. Let him fix things with his wife and take care of his family. We love to build people up in this country and then tear them down, man. That's what we love to do."

-- UFC President Dana White last night showed his support for the world's best golfer, Tiger Woods, during the UFC 107: "Penn vs. Sanchez" post event press conference, donning a cap and telling reporters he's heard enough about his off the links extramarital exploits. Woods is currently embroiled in a salacious headline-grabbing controversy with about 10 women who have stepped forward to reveal affairs, which has shocked just about everyone who followed his seemingly squeaky clean career. It's a huge media story that likely won't go away anytime soon, much to the chagrin of White.

Paul Buentello: The fans knew who the real winner was at UFC 107

Quoteworthy:

"I feel like I did enough, I could have done a little bit more, but the fans watched the fight. I was in the fight so it's hard to judge it until I watch it on TV. I just needed that one extra [burst] of aggression. I should have put more pressure on him, but the fans watched it and they saw something. I knew I did some good things. It's pretty cool that the fans knew who the real winner was. I felt good, I wasn't tired but I may have given him a little too much respect on his knee but then again I had to reach down deeper. Some times you just have to grab your (expletive) and go -- and that's one thing I didn't do."

Returning UFC heavyweight Paul Buentello eats a few sour grapes after his majority decision loss to Stefan Struve at UFC 107: "Penn vs. Sanchez" on Dec. 12. After being controlled in the opening stanza, "The Headhunter" had an impressive second round, dropping the "Skyscraper" with a hard right and controlling the action. Unfortunately he failed to capitalize on that momentum and was content to stalk the towering Dane throughout the third -- eating a plethora of leg kicks in the process. Perhaps Buentello "feared the consequences" but in the process may have handed Struve the decision win. Any Maniacs out there calling this one a robbery?

Rory Markham forced to withdraw from UFC 108 due to Achilles injury

Rory Markham has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming UFC 108 fight against Martin Kampmann from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada, on Jan. 2, according to MMAWeekly.

Markham injured his achilles tendon during training and has been advised by his doctor to stay off it in hope of preventing a possible tear.

It's the second time this year the Chicago native has pulled out of a fight after getting hurt -- he left TJ Grant hanging just five days before they were scheduled to meet at The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 9 Finale in Las Vegas back on June 20.

This latest injury comes just days after the news that Dong Hyun "Stun Gun" Kim won't be joining Chris Lytle at UFC 110 in Australia after getting hurt with an undisclosed injury.

No potential substitute for "The Hitman" has been named at this time.

Markham ate leather against British export Dan Hardy this past February at UFC 95: "Sanchez vs. Stevenson." It was a fight that saw him a tad overeager to brawl it out -- which he would pay dearly for.

The loss erased the memory of his head kick victory over Brodie Farber at UFC Fight Night 14 in July of last year, a knockout that was widely considered to be one of the most brutal of 2008.

Hopefully the former IFL standout can get patched up soon enough to compete on one of the upcoming Spring 2010 cards either stateside or abroad.

UFC 108 features a re-worked main event between former light heavyweight champion "Sugar" Rashad Evans and the hard-hitting Thiago Silva. It's unclear at this time which fight will serve as the co main event; however, the recently promoted lightweight clash between Sean Sherk and Jim Miller will be featured on the televised main card.
