MMA Quick Quote: Marloes Coenen doesn't want to roll with Meisha Tate Posted: 10 Oct 2010 03:34 PM PDT
-- Newly-crowned Strikeforce 135-pound queenpin, Marloes Coenen, reflects on her big win last night over the previously undefeated Sarah Kaufmann, which she secured with a third round armbar submission. And she's already got her mind set on defending her latest accessory, talking about her keys to victory over her next likely opponent, Meisha Tate. "Takedown" -- who recently won a four-woman, one-night 135-pound elimination tournament earlier this year -- is a fantastic wrestler who can serve up a healthy dose of ground and pound if and when she gets her opponents horizontal. Is this a classic style match up between two of the world's best (and hottest) female fighters on the planet or does one of them have a clear cut advantage inside the cage? |

Posted: 10 Oct 2010 11:01 AM PDT KJ Noons "x-rays revealed a broken jaw and a fractured left hand, which came in the first and second rounds respectively," according to SI.com. Enough to make you clamor for a rubber match? |
Josh Thomson on decisioning JZ Cavalcante: 'No way I won that fight, 30-27' Posted: 10 Oct 2010 10:51 AM PDT Oh, but you did, Josh, in the eyes of judge Susan Thomas Gitlan:
"The Punk" says what (seemingly) everyone who watched his three-round fight with JZ Cavalcante last night at Strikeforce: "Diaz vs. Noons 2" was thinking: That he didn't win all three rounds against his Brazilian counterpart. In fact, it's safe to say that he clearly lost the third round and could have been outpointed in the opening stanza. All the judges agreed, however, that Thomson won the first, during which he was clipped with a hard right and was trapped in a very, very tight guillotine choke. Bad Gitlan scorecard aside, did anyone think Cavalcante deserved the nod instead? |
