Kimbo Slice: 'I'll fight anybody, including James Toney'

"I never heard anything about me fighting James Toney, but you know, like I said, again, I'll fight anybody, man. C'mon, everybody knows that about me from my street-fighting days. Put anybody in front of me, train me to be the best, I'll fight the best. That's one thing about Kimbo Slice that everybody knows."

Former street and cage fighter Kimbo Slice addressed the notion that a he and James Toney fight could actually one day come to fruition. Ironically enough, it is Slice now who calls the ring his home while Toney, albeit likely in one and done fashion, ventured inside of the Octagon to prove, well, nothing. With the line of people waiting to box "Lights Out" completely empty, will a Slice vs. Toney match ever take place? And, if it did, how quickly does Kimbo get embarrassed it yet another professional combat sport?

Ken Shamrock vs Johnathan Ivey set for October 16 in Louisiana

Posted: 01 Sep 2010 01:26 PM PDT

The things you do for money.

After being brutalized by the kicks of one Pedro Rizzo this past July at Impact FC, Ken Shamrock is hopping right back in the cage this fall against Johnathan Ivey on October 16 for the USA MMA promotion in Lafayette, Louisiana.

MMA Fighting confirmed this unfortunate news earlier today.

Prior to the aforementioned drubbing he suffered at the feet of Rizzo, Shamrock (27-13-2) hadn't been heard from since failing the world's most dangerous drug test back in early 2009. The UFC pioneer was popped for anabolic steroids — Norandrosterone, Noretiocholanolone and Stanozolol following his first round armbar submission win over the late Ross Clifton at War Gods: "Valentine’s Eve Massacre" last February.

Shammy was fined $2,500 and suspended one year for the transgression.

During that time, his Mexican bout with Seth Petruzelli was canceled, he was forced to endure the death of his father and slapped with a bill for $175,000 in legal fees after he was unsuccessful in suing Zuffa for breach of contract.

Tough year for Shams. A victory here would help.

Ken's opponent, Johnathan Ivey, will be carrying a record of 29-42 into their bout. Yes, you read that right. 13 fights under .500.

Ivey has been in the cage with, and loss to, the following formidable foes; Ricco Rodriguez, Jake O'Brien, Dan Severn, Ben Rothwell and Jeremy Horn.

Check out a "highlight" video of Johnathan here where he drops the infamous "People's Elbow" at the 6:55 mark.

Will Shamrock join that semi-elite list of guys who have taken joy in defeating Ivey? Or, will Ivey hand Ken his seventh loss in his last eight contests?

Michael Bisping: Yoshihiro Akiyama + Greg Jackson = Three rounds of sexy hugs

great days training finished, akiyamas at jacksons mma, I guess hes gonna try and hug me to death then.

UFC 120 headliner Michael Bisping is prepared to hug it out with Yoshihiro Akiyama when the two middleweights collide on Oct. 16 in London. "The Count" suggests that Jackson's grooming "Sexyama" for a grappling offense when the Brit prefers to stand and bang. Does Bisping have a valid point? Or is he overlooking the effectiveness of Jackson's tried-and-true fight strategy?

Report: UFC 123: 'Rampage vs Machida' booked for Nov. 20 in Auburn Hills, MI

Two former UFC light heavyweight champions, Quinton Jackson and Lyoto Machida, have reportedly found a location to host their main event match-up to determine which fighter gets back into the 205-pound title hunt.

The Detroit Free Press brings word that The Palace of Auburn Hills will present the UFC 123: "Rampage vs Machida" pay-per-view (PPV) on November 20 in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

And the Detroit suburb couldn't be happier, according to Dr. James Weber, chair of the Michigan Unarmed Combat Commission:

"My understanding is that it is a done deal. Detroit deserves this. It is a boxing and MMA town. It would be a great boost to the economy and represents the character, fight and will of the people in this area. It is a dream of mine come true."

Jackson (30-8) returned to cage fighting after a self-imposed exile that allowed him to participate in the A-Team movie as boyhood idol "B.A. Baracus."

Unfortunately his return was not well received by former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 10 coach and bitter rival Rashad Evans. "Sugar" was sweet enough for three rounds to take home the unanimous decision win in their UFC 114 main event last May.

It was just the second loss for "Rampage" since his UFC debut way back in February 2007.

Machida (16-1) has been tied up with Mauricio Rua over the past year, splitting a pair of main event bouts with his fellow Brazilian but coming up empty in their second dance. The formerly undefeated "Dragon" was finished for the first time in his career after "Shogun" stopped him via first round knockout at UFC 113 back on May 8.

Also rumored for the UFC 123 event is a welterweight scrap between "The Immortal" Matt Brown and Canada's Rory MacDonald.

Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for more information on this still-developing fight card.

Strikeforce: Marloes Coenen ready for an 'explosive fight' against Sarah Kaufman

"The (Santos) loss didn't make me decide to fight at 135 lbs. I still want to fight Cyborg again, because the fight was stopped too early. I do understand it from the referee. Men do not like to see women get hurt. In the next Cyborg fight the referee was a woman. Well, you now can conclude that women do not mind seeing each other hurt. If she wants to clinch I'm fine with that. I like clinching. After the Cyborg fight I think that I have proven to be able to take a punch. I think that Sarah and I are both fierce so it will be an explosive fight."

Former women's 145-pound number one contender Marloes Coenen keeps here contender status after dropping down a division to challenge undefeated champion Sarah Kaufman at the upcoming Strikeforce: "Diaz vs. Noons II" event in San Jose. "Rumina" is hoping to get a rematch with "Cyborg" Santos in the near future to prove she's got the goods to claim the Brazilian's gold. But can she first get past the Canadian on Oct. 9?

UFC Quick Quote: Ryan Bader plans on finishing Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 119

And if he can mirror the UFC 114 performance of fellow wrestler Jason Brilz he may have a pretty good shot...

"Yes I do feel confident standing with Nog. He has great boxing, and great counter punches. The thing is, this is MMA and with 4 oz gloves on anything can happen. I feel that I hit very hard and have a good chin, so who knows a KO could happen. He is very good on the ground and I am very good at my wrestling game. I have fought many black belts in my career and train with even more. I have to be smart when I’m on the canvas with Rogerio. He is very slick but I believe my wrestling can neutralize his Jiu Jitsu. I plan on finishing this fight any way I can; whether that is a KO or a TKO from ground & pound. Rogerio is an extremely hard fighter to finish but I am going to go in there and try to do just that. I need to focus on this fight first and go out there and win. Then I can look towards my next fight, and if that is (Jon) Jones then we will get after it."

"Darth" Bader inches his way closer to a light heavyweight title shot when he faces Antonio Rogerio Nogueira at UFC 119 on Sept. 25 in Indianapolis. The TUF 8 champ and undefeated powerhouse talks to BuddaSport about his possible collision course with fellow surging prospect Jon Jones but must first overcome the experience of "Lil' Nog." Can Bader get it done? Or will the Brazilian put him to sleep in "Naptown?"

Takanori Gomi: I think I can take the UFC lightweight belt

"BJ, Florian have a jiu-jitsu base so I had a hard time dealing with them but the champion has a wrestling base so I can fight him calmly. I’m aiming for the belt? Yes, I am. I think I can take the belt. Hmmm…I wonder if I’m stronger than the champ?"

Anyone think "The Fireball Kid" is off his rocker? Or does the former PRIDE lightweight champion, fresh off a stoppage of Tyson Griffin at UFC on Versus 2, have a legitimate shot at Octagon gold?
