UFC Quick Quote: James Toney plans to slap Jon Jones

Posted: 31 Jul 2010 03:08 PM PDT

"Jon 'Homo' Jones better do his research before he talks shit about me. He doesn’t know anything about me. He's about to learn though because when I see Jon Jones, I’ma slap his ass. I don’t play those games. He better learn how to fight before he talks shit about me. Jones is the 2010 Rampage Jackson; both straight up yes men. Tell him to go drink an Ecstasy drink because I heard that’s what he likes to do; just another bitch ass New Yorker."

-- Well, this just keeps getting uglier. Professional boxer and UFC newcomer James Toney calls out light heavyweight prospect Jon Jones in a recent interview with FightHype, resorting to juvenile name calling and hurling baseless allegations that likely won't make company president Dana White very happy. Toney is booked to battle Randy Couture at UFC 118 at the end of August, but he has called out just about everyone, including Brock Lesnar, who has been skeptical about his success inside the Octagon. Is Toney just doing his part to promote his fight or has he crossed the line?

Latest UFC on Versus 2 odds and betting lines for 'Jones vs Matyushenko' on Aug. 1

Posted: 31 Jul 2010 12:09 PM PDT

Bet Bones!

Vladimir Matyushenko may be "The Janitor," but it's Jon Jones who's mopping up the fight lines. "Bones" is still sailing into his "UFC on Versus 2" main event fight tomorrow night (Aug. 1, 2010) against the Belarusian underdog as a -600 favorite.

Vladdy meanwhile is limping in at +400 despite having a significant edge in experience.

Yushin Okami has "Thundered" into his 185-pound war against Mark Munoz with a -210 fight line in tow. "The Philippine Underdog Machine" could make some money if he drops his purse on his own +165 odds.

Anything is possible in this sport -- and those who lay down some cheddar on the underdogs in San Diego stand to make a healthy profit. Assuming you win, of course. Anyone thinking parlay? Take a look at the latest numbers and let's hear your play.

Surprisingly, the lines haven't moved much at all since our initial post, but that could all change as the event continues to draw closer.

Here are the latest UFC on Versus 2 odds (- = favorite; + = underdog):

Junior dos Santos: 'My intention is to keep the fight standing' against Roy Nelson at UFC 117

Quoteworthy:

"I’ve been training with the Nogueiras here in Bahia. Rogerio (Lil' Nog) was here a little longer than Rodrigo. Demian Maia has also been strong for me and a few more people who came to assist me and my team out here including the Northeast Champion of Jiu-Jitsu who has helped me from the beginning. This week I am doing the final preparation, its time to start winding down and on Saturday I do my last sparring and I'll have to be 100% to do this sparring. Then next week is the maintenance phase of the training. My intention is to keep the fight standing up, because I like the striking and want to use my boxing, which is where I consider myself better and it's where I want to try to surprise my opponent. But if the fight goes to the floor, I'm ready too, because I'm training a lot of Jiu-Jitsu and I'm sure I can still surprise him on the floor as well."

Brazilian powerhouse Junior dos Santos takes on Roy Nelson next Saturday night (Aug. 7, 2010) at UFC 117: "Silva vs. Sonnen," in a heavyweight clash that will likely determine the next division contender. Nelson, who's very skilled on the ground, and perhaps even better at keeping his opponents plastered on their backs, has indicated that he intends to throw leather. However, how long can he last with that gameplan? Or is he just better off seeing what "surprises" dos Santos has down south?
