UFC 115: Chuck Liddell's last hurrah begins with a 'bigger challenge' in Rich Franklin

"I respect Rich and I think he’s a bigger challenger [than Tito] for sure, so that motivates you more to get into the gym and I’ve gotta be prepared. I’ve got to show up ready to go or I’ll pay for it. I don’t see it being a problem. I think [ring rust is] psychological for some guys. At the end of the fight, I’ll decide what I want to do next. I’m planning on making another run at the title -- that’s what I want to do, so we’ll see what happens."

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell talks to the media at yesterday's conference call (via Sherdog.com) and expects opponent and ex-middleweight champion Rich Franklin to present a bigger challenge than original foe Tito Ortiz. "The Iceman" has some pretty lofty goals for the remainder of 2010, including another run at the 205-pound title. Will "Ace" make sure he never gets there? And if he does, what happens against guys like Rampage, Evans and Rua, who already own (T)KO losses over the TUF 11 coach?

Does "The Janitor" stand a chance against the dynamic young up-and-comer?

Frank Mir: 'I've actually been toying with the idea of maybe going down a weight class'

Quoteworthy:

"Right now I have a couple months off, so I've actually been toying with the idea of maybe going down a weight class. Since I don't have a fight for a couple months, I've just been watching what I eat and see how my body without trying to put size on; what my natural weight will fall now at now since I have lifted a lot lately to add size. I'm kind of curios where I think I would fall at. Because some of the guys I train with that are light heavyweight, bone structures are the same. Sometimes I stand next to Forrest (Griffin) and I think I'm in the wrong weight class."

Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir ponders a career at 205-pounds during his time away from the fight game. Despite a successful heavyweight career, lopsided losses to Brock Lesnar and Shane Carwin have perhaps planted the seed that his frame is better suited at 205-pounds. Can one of the UFC's most senior veterans make any kind of noise as a light heavyweight? Or would strikers like Machida and Rua make him sorry he ever considered it?

Shortly after he was removed from the upcoming Strikeforce: "Fedor vs. Werdum" event on June 26, embattled mixed martial artist Charles Bennett returned to the cage for the Action Fight League (AFL) "Rock-N-Rumble 3" event from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on June 4 in Hollywood, Florida.

MMAmania himself was in the house to watch "Krazy Horse" go on to lose a unanimous decision to CageSport MMA veteran Sterling Ford.
