MMA Quick Quote: Sorry Brock, rankings are a big pile of BS

"This whole MMA ranking stuff is a big pile of B.S. Everybody is in such love with Brock Lesnar, who came from nothing, zero MMA experience, and now he's considered one of the best? He fought only five times and is now considered Mr. Untouchable? Why not me then? Nobody knows how hard I'm preparing myself. I'm training with the best Polish wrestlers; these are top guys. It's easy to do when you're not fighting for money - I'm already a very wealthy guy with a secured future - but for the love and new challenge, and always for my fans, here in Poland and abroad. I would never, repeat never, start fighting in MMA if I didn't believe I could be the best. First Kawaguchi, then Sylvia - sorry guys, you are in my way."

Five-time World's Strongest Man, Mariusz Pudzianowski, tells MMAWeekly that he's not much different from current UFC Heavyweight Champion Brock Lesnar in that he too is going to make a late transition to MMA and start beating up everyone in his way -- starting with former Zuffa champ Tim Sylvia at the upcoming Moosin event on May 21 in Worcester. The Polish powerhouse has a lot to prove before he's considered a serious threat in this sport -- but that hasn't stopped him from setting some pretty lofty goals. Anyone think the muscular menace has the chops to make it as a top contender?

Brock Lesnar vs Fedor Emelianenko video debate with 'The Voice' and Joe Rogan

Posted: 02 May 2010 10:30 AM PDT

This is why I like Joe Rogan -- He obviously works for Zuffa, but has no problem offering his opinions on MMA as a whole. The entire video is good with Joe talking about Fedor and the fact that he could easily fight at middleweight or light heavyweight and about a Brock/Fedor dream match. I watched the whole video, which is rare for me. It was that good!

Report: Alessio Sakara withdraws from UFC 116 fight with Nate Marquardt

After toiling with mediocrity for just about five years in more than 10 fights, switching weight classes and training camps, Alessio Sakara appeared to be on the verge of his big break, getting matched up against former number one contender Nate Marquardt at UFC 116 on July 3 from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Unfortunately for the Italian striker, he's going to have to wait a little while longer.

Figure Four Online reports that Sakara has withdrawn from the bout because his father has passed away. No potential replacement is known at this time.

"Legionarius" has put together a decent win streak over the last few months. Having defeated the likes of Thales Leites at UFC 101 and most recently James Irvin at UFC on Versus 1, Sakara had put himself in position to really climb up the middleweight ladder.

Just recently, Alessio actually called out Michael Bisping in an attempt to get a fight with the Brit, but "The Count" was already scheduled to face Dan Miller at UFC 114. So when he got the call to tangle with "The Great," he was more than likely thrilled because it appeared to be a better opportunity for Sakara to showcase his talents and take the next step in his career.

All in good time.

UFC 116 is already shaping up to be one of the promotion's biggest cards of the year. The July 4 weekend event will be headlined by the return of Brock Lesnar as he defends his heavyweight crown against undefeated mauler Shane Carwin.

Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for more news on UFC 116 as it becomes available.
